WAI provided consultation in the areas of electrical distribution, lighting design, mechanical, and plumbing design for this new 77,000 sq. ft. elementary school located in an affluent area of Montgomery County. To make sure Bells Mill Elementary School was eye catching; WAI geared the lighting design towards user tasks and were very creative and unique with the fixtures chosen. Typical classrooms for this building were provided with dedicated ventilation air from the energy recovery units (ERU’s), a small water source heat pump for conditioning purposes, a classroom sink, direct/indirect lighting, task oriented power and data connections and a specialized teacher data/power outlet.
The project used a geothermal water source heat pump system maximizing the HVAC system’s sustainability and achieving part load efficiencies of EER = 30+.
