WAI provided electrical, AV, telecommunications, security and fire protection for a new $24 million, 53,000 sq. ft. health center replacement facility to address space shortage and building deficiencies. This new state-of-the-art-building houses a range of public health programs including: Communicable Disease and Epidemiology, Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response, Immunization, Disease Control, HIV Services, Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) Services and Tuberculosis Control.
The new building consists of: reception/patient waiting rooms, laboratories, exam rooms, administrative offices, conference rooms, nurse stations, biohazard storage warehouses, restrooms, showers, utilities storage, copy rooms, etc. An emergency generator was designed to operate the facility and communication systems at nominal levels up to 72 hours. The AE team was responsible for coordinating all aspects of design, permits and approvals, utilities, systems, schedule and phasing with County representatives and vendors. This project exceeded its requirements of LEED Silver certification, and achieved LEED Gold.
