Student & Faculty Services Center, Major Renovation

This project renovated the existing building to allow for a new collaborative work environment with flexibility for the changing needs of the rapidly growing college with over 100,000 students from around the world. The project houses eight departments of the university administration, while providing shared facilities and a generous lobby (envisioned by the architect as the “living room”) that connects the various departments.

WAI provided the design and integration of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for the major renovation of a 140,000 sq. ft. existing building. This project included: replaced chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and Air Handling Units, as well as provided energy management and VAV retrofits, lighting design including motion sensors, 100 KVA UPS for server rooms, fire sprinkler and alarm assessments, etc.  The new systems successfully: met the needs of the users, provided good indoor air quality, are energy efficient, easily maintainable, had low first cost, all being cognizant of project construction budget limitations.
